EACC auctions first batch of Okoth Obado's properties, recovers Sh69 million
EACC reiterated its commitment to tracing and recovering proceeds of corruption and unexplained wealth to ensure that perpetrators of corruption and economic crimes do not benefit from their ill-got wealth.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has disposed of five properties recovered from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and former Nairobi County Head of Accounting, Stephen Ogaga Osiro, through a public auction.
The auction, held on Thursday, involved a section of the 10 properties earmarked for disposal following court orders in Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Suit No. 20 of 2018 and Suit No. 10 of 2021.

According to the Commission, the five properties included a three-bedroom house at Riara Apartment No. FF3 on LR 330/140 Nairobi/Block 14/247, which sold for Sh14 million.
Another three-bedroom house at Greenspan Estate, LR No. Nairobi/Block 82/8759, was sold for Sh6,950,000; a two-bedroom apartment in the same estate fetched Sh6,755,000, while maisonette No. 279, also on LR No. Nairobi/Block 82/8759, sold for Sh11 million.

Lastly, a townhouse on Loresho Ridge Estate, LR No. 21080/63, was sold for Sh31 million.
The five properties fetched a total of Sh69,705,000, which the Commission noted exceeded their valuation reserve prices.
"In line with Section 56C of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, all proceeds from the sale of recovered assets shall be deposited into the Consolidated Fund," EACC Head of Corporate Communications, Stephen Karuga, said on Friday.

"The remaining properties, situated in Kisumu and Migori Counties, are scheduled for auction on Thursday, October 16 2025, and the Commission invites members of the public to participate in the exercise," Karuga added.
